At the Sandbanks Women’s Health Clinic, we understand the complexities surrounding women’s hormones and health. We provide a tailored service for women of all ages and take the time to assess you. Our practitioners focus on guiding you through understanding your hormones and look at how your hormones are balanced. We are here for you at every phase of life in a friendly, understanding and supportive environment. Our women’s health programme covers a range of women’s health issues from contraception and reproduction, to sexual health and gynaecology.

Bio identical hormones

Bio-identical hormones share the same chemical structure as naturally occurring hormones. This means that they fit hormone receptors better and have fewer off-target effects (side effects) compared to synthetic hormones. Non-bio conventional HRT generally uses synthetic hormones which are chemically different to those produced by the body. Generally the oestrogen used in HRT and BHRT are the same (estradiol) so there is no significant difference.
Bio-identical HRT (BHRT) is prescribed on an individualised basis for a specific client. These products are unlicensed. They are often prescribed in lower doses than conventional HRT and often in a transdermal cream or oral lozenge which is generally well tolerated. A full discussion of all the different types of HRT will be available together with the difference between licensed and unlicensed products and which would be the most suitable for you.

New Patient Consultation

Type: Face-to-face / Video
Duration: Up to 60 minutes

The new patient appointment will be with one of our expertly trained doctors or advanced nurse practitioners and will provide an in-depth consultation around your current symptoms and past medical history. Guided by this, the clinician will be able to offer a discussion on how BHRT may be of benefit to you. This will include blood tests.

Diagnostic Tests

Our clinicians will be able to advise you after your consultation as to which is the most suitable diagnostic test for you such as urine or blood tests.

Your clinician may recommend other tests depending on your symptoms. These include a mammogram, pelvic ultrasound scan and Dexa Scan. We work with a number of trusted providers locally who will be able to provide these tests( prices provided separately).

Follow Up Consultation

The follow up appointment will be scheduled when the diagnostic tests are available. At this appointment the clinician will go through the tests results with you and you will have a full opportunity to discuss these. Your clinician will offer you a suggested treatment plan which may include a personalised prescription of BHRT.
